Steve Crim, the Learners to Leaders Corporate Liaison at Smithfield Foods, shows his Iowa State Spirit. SCIENCE BOUND at the Denison Community School DistrictSmithfield Foods, through its independent local operating company Farmland Foods, along with the Denison Community School District and Iowa State University, are in a five-year partnership to bring SCIENCE BOUND to the district. Smithfield Foods is underwriting the estimated $256,000 cost of the program, which will run from October 2007 through May 2012. The community educational partnership is driven by Learners to Leaders™, a national educational alliance funded by Smithfield Foods and consisting of Smithfield’s independent operating companies and local educational partners. Ten to 15 students will participate in 2007. Sixty to 75 studetns will be involved by 2012.
